Ukraine's cultural, historical and linguistic heritage is rich not only in beautiful but also symbolic names for the people. Now they take on new meanings through the events of the Russian-Ukrainian war. For example, military formations receive symbolic names: the 24th Separate Assault Battalion "Aidar", named after the river on which the battalion's first battle took place; the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodnyi Yar", which received its honorary name in honor of the region famous for its rebels, and so on.
We too sought to embed powerful meanings in our names. Might, resonance, historical memory — all this was united in the names of our products. They resonate with every Ukrainian through their ideological and value-based consonance with our struggle. For example, the women's anatomical body armor (and armor suit) received the name "Ruta Liuta"which echoes the name of the flower everyone knows from the song. For us, though, it's a symbol not of beauty and tenderness but of indomitable courage and bravery. Alongside it stand the armor suits "Liutobor" and "Burevii", which by their very names proclaim the strength and tenacity of those who will wear them while defending their state. Three models of the plate carriers we manufacture are named not only by analogy with Old Slavic names, but also at the same time in honor of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: "Zabrat", "Stolat" and "Ubash".
We sought to give our products not just resounding but, above all, meaningful names; some of them, for example, are old Cossack names (or our variations on them) that carry within them the energy of the times when the Sich flourished. Thus, in particular, appeared the names of the helmets — "Ustrash", "Buitur" and "Dzhura". We also returned to the roots of our language: the name of the armor blanket "Plashta" we created based on the Proto-Slavic "plaxъta", which literally means cloth, a canopy — something that covers.
In searching for options, we immediately understood that each of the names had to be motivated, so we turned to archaic vocabulary and names: this is the past that shaped our present. A historical heritage that we are all proud of and that has symbolic significance for all Ukrainians. After all, there have been repeated attempts to erase this history — and they continue to this day — but it lives on as long as we remember it.
