Ukrainian Armor™

Intended Use armor plates — protection of the area of vital organs: the heart, lungs, liver. To ensure this, body armor must be chosen for each person individually by size, like clothing. Essentially, for body armor, in particular plates, size matters even more than for clothing. After all, here it's about a person's safety.

We all have different heights and builds. So it's natural that the protected area for each of us will be different. Accordingly, armor plates, for example, for a burly assault soldier and a petite artillerywoman cannot be the same size.

Why?

A plate that's too large

  • creates an unnecessary burden, which leads to faster exhaustion;
  • restricts mobility and maneuverability because of its size;
  • creates an additional vibration load during fast walking or running.

A plate that's too small

  • does not guarantee full protection, since it leaves room for bullets and fragments to injure unprotected areas of the body's vital organs.

So the fixed size of 25×30 cm, which just a few years ago was the "standard" and only size for plates in our region, meant that a soldier had no possibility of having a plate that was optimal in terms of protected area.

Today, however, we take into account all possibilities, needs and tasks. So that you can choose an armor plate that will provide the protected area that's necessary specifically for you, we make plates for you in several sizes (from three to five depending on the type of plate). These are: SA3™ [DSTU 3]SA3+™ [DSTU 4] and SA4™[DSTU 5–6]

And what else matters in the characteristics of armor plates?

  • Curvature of the plate in two planes. To reliably protect the needed zone, a plate in a plate carrier or vest must fit snugly to the body. This will reduce the impact of the blast wave, protect against fragments arriving in the areas of loose fit between the plate and the body, and won't restrict the mobility of the upper limbs by catching on the protruding edges of plates that have no curvature or have it in one plane.
  • The "protection level — weight" ratio. The greater the weight of a set of plates, the faster active work in them leads to the soldier's exhaustion, and in the long term — to possible diseases of the spine and blood vessels. Therefore, to the question "Is it worth fighting for every 100-300-500 grams of plate weight reduction during development?" our answer is: "Absolutely!".

In our approach — knowledge and technologies in the service of your safety and convenience. That's exactly why, in development and manufacturing, we don't take the path of simplifying or cheapening technologies and processes for us as the manufacturer, but the path of creating the most convenient and optimal solutions for you as users. Ukrainian warriors deserve the best — for us, over the years of our work here, there are no compromises. And that's exactly why in our plates we have combined all the characteristics listed above.
